Meet Our Counsellor: Nikita Dwivedi
Nikita is a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and has trained in EMDR therapy.
Nikita provides psychotherapy and counselling services for individuals and couples. Nikita received her Honours in Psychology and then completed her Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Western Sydney University. She is a clinical member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
Nikita has extensive experience as a relationship and trauma counsellor and has previously worked at Sexual Assault Support Service, Relationships Australia Tasmania and Relationships Australia Queensland. She has experience working with sexual assault survivors, family and relationship counselling, trauma counselling, LGBTQI+ counselling, employee assistance counselling and post-separation counselling. Nikita offers psycho-education programs for teachers and school social workers on request.
​Nikita has trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Gottman’s Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Sensory Motor Psychotherapy and Schema Therapy.

Nikita's approach to therapy is reflective, collaborative and non-judgmental with a foundation built on compassion, curiosity and compassion. Nikita believes therapy can be a transformative experience. Mostly when clients feel heard, validated and connected.
In therapy, we begin the process of exploring, reflecting, connecting and healing to improve overall functioning and well-being. It is an honors for Nikita to guide and bear witness to her clients’ journey. Nikita practice is trauma-informed and provides clients with skills and resources for self-empowerment and enhancing relational resilience. Her approach is holistic, using a broad range of evidence-based interventions customized to the presenting needs of her clients.

What are your fees and cancellation policy?
Fee
Fee for online individual counselling is $120 and for online Couple counselling is $160.
Fees are payable at the end of each session unless arranged otherwise prior to the session.
Please note that we are unable to provide Medicare rebate. There are some private health insurers that provide rebates with payment receipt. Please check with your health fund.
Cancellation Policy
Late cancellations can drastically impact on the effectiveness and service delivery of private practice. They also impact on appointment opportunities for other clients.
If you cannot attend, would like to reschedule, or need to cancel your appointment - you need to give at least 24 hours notice or 100% of the usual fee will be charged. This policy is necessary to ensure that Harbour Counselling can continue to operate as a small business.

Does online counselling and therapy really work?
While online counselling and therapy is a much newer form of therapy, current evidence suggests that for most people it can be just as effective as in-person therapy. Sometimes talking from the safety of your own home may even make it easier for you to open up and discuss your problems and engage in talk therapy. Online Counselling especially works for couples wanting connect from different locations or people in geographically isolated places.
Online counselling services are used effectively to treat concerns and issues with relationships like - intimacy, stress, depression, anxiety, grief and improve mental health and well-being.
To obtain online counselling sessions, you only need a decent internet connection and webcam device to connect with your online counsellor.

Confidentiality and privacy is of utmost importance at Harbour Counselling. Confidentiality is maintained by the counsellor as follows-

Only with client’s prior consent will their identity be made public.

You've said it's fine to: Write a report or refer you to another person or group, or talk about your info with someone else.

How are the payments processed?
We take payment for counselling sessions using debit or credit cards through Square. Your payment info is kept safe with bank-level security and encryption.
When your card details are entered into Square, they are stored and tokenised in its payment gateway, meaning that once initially entered and captured, they are not visible to anybody within the practice or at square. To change or update payment details, you need to enter them all again as an extra safety step. This is because the stored payment info can't be edited or changed. Square’s systems are PCI compliant.
When you go to your first session, at the appointment- counsellor will ask you to provide your card information. From that point on, you won't need to think about or deal with payments at all - Square takes care of everything. You can save time and get on with your day straight after the appointment.

Is online counselling as effective as in-person counselling?
Both modes of therapy, online and in-person, are found to be equally effective for couples and individuals. According to a study on teletherapy, clients and mental health professionals found counseling online effective. In fact, virtual appointments had higher attendance rates compared to in-person visits. Ultimately it comes down to your preference.
